How do I create an additional FTP user?

Note: The following applies to accounts on Windows 2003/IIS 6 servers only.

You can have up to 3 additional Windows users (for a total of four) on each web hosting account. You can use these users for various purposes, password protection and FTP.

To set up an additional FTP user, follow the procedure below:

1. Log onto the control panel and navigate to the User Manager
2. Create a new user by entering the required information in the blank fields under "Active Users" (the blank fields will only be visible if you have less than 3 additional users)
3. Navigate to the Permission Manager
4. Assign permissions for the User. For example, if you want this user to have read/write access to your entire site, assign Read and Write permission to the User in the root directory
5. In your FTP client, make sure you specify the "remote initial directory" to /[main_account_username]
6. If you are setting permissions for a specific subdirectory other than the document root, then:
   • Specify the remote initial directory to /[main_account_username]/[subdirectory]
