How to verify/enable SMTP authentication in Windows Live Mail

  1. Log in to Windows Live Mail.
  2. Go to Tools/Accounts.
  3. Highlight the target profile and click Properties.
  4. This will open the Properties window and click on the Servers tab.
  5. Enter a check next to My server requires authentication.
  6. Click on the Settings... button.
  7. Choose Log on using, and enter the full email address and password for the pop account you are accessing.
