Newsletter Controls

If you wish to unsubscribe from the DiscountASP.NET newsletter and other general interest/marketing/announcement emails, use the unsubscribe link in the newsletter email.

If you have multiple accounts, please be aware that you are unsubscribing the email address associated with the account, so you will be unsubscribed for all accounts that use that email address.

Note: Unsubscribing from the newsletter does not unsubscribe you from system emails (server maintenance or outage notices, etc.). You cannot opt-out of receiving system messages.

Finding the Full Server Path

You can find the full server path for your website in the Account Information section of Control Panel.

Contact Information

Use the "Edit Contact" button to make changes to your contact information.   It is important to maintain a current email address and telephone number in the event that it becomes necessary to contact you regarding your account.

Credit Card

Note the expiration date here and be sure to keep a current card on the account in order to prevent account renewal failure.

Control Panel Login

This is your username to log into Control Panel, as well as your primary user on the web server.  This username cannot be changed or deleted.

Password

Updating the password here affects Control Panel & the main FTP password.

Security Questions

The security questions are used to verify your identity in the event that you forget your password.  The Security Questions are the primary method used to authenticate the ownership of the account.

Addon Options

Use these links to order additional disk storage space or bandwidth and to see pricing for other add-on services.

Domain Name

This is the primary domain name which is associated with your hosting account.

DNS Information

These are the name servers that your domain should use to direct traffic to your site on our servers.  If you are moving to DiscountASP.NET from another host you will use this information to update the name servers for your domain through your domain registrar.

Alternative URL

This is an alternative URL which is provided to each account.  This is useful for testing before you update your domain's DNS records to point to our services.

Server Information

Here you will find your server settings.  The server type, server name and the server path to the root directory of your account on the web server.   Certain applications or programs may require this information.   Use the [Upgrade] link within the Server Type field to migrate your account to the newest Microsoft operating system version.

FTP Information

Here you can find your FTP username and FTP password.  Note: Under Windows IIS7, your FTP username is different than your hosting control panel username.  This section also includes the host names for your FTP login.  Note that the Alternative address is permanent and can be used to access FTP if there is a problem with your domain name.

Email Information

These are the host names that are required to send and receive email on our system.  You can use either POP3 or IMAP to connect and download mail and SMTP to send.

Web Deploy and Publishing Information

This section provides you with your Server/Service URL along with your Site name, username and password that are used when publishing via Webdeploy or Webmatrix.  You can also download an XML file that contains the publishing settings.

Order Addons

Add-on services are ordered through the Addon Manager page. The "Status" column will indicate whether you currently have an active service for a specific add-on.

Add-on pricing can be monthly (billed along with your hosting service) or one-time, depending on the add-on ordered. Please see the "See Pricing" links to determine the pricing for a specific service.

Updating Whois Information in Domain Manager

To update whois information for domains registered through DiscountASP.NET, go to the Domain Manager page, select a domain name from the dropdown menu and click "Review/Edit," then "Edit Contact" for the appropriate contact.

Checking the "Same as Admin," "Same As Owner" or "Same As Billing" box will populate the open contact with information from the contact you select.

Note that ICANN, the governing body for domain name registrations, requires that contact information in your whois records be valid.

To edit contact information for domains not registered through DiscountASP.NET, please consult your registrar's FAQ or help files. If you are unsure of who your domain registrar is, please see this Knowledge Base article.

Usage Summary

This page is a summary of monthly bandwidth and disk storage space usage for your account.

Bandwidth tab

On the Bandwidth tab you can review usage for the current month or any of the five previous months by selecting the desired month from the drop down menu. If you need to order additional bandwidth for your account, you can do so using the Add Additional Bandwidth link.

Disk Space tab

Shows you the amount of storage space used on the server.

Used Space: Amount of physical space being used by file or folder.
Free Space: Unused available space for your website.

If you need to order additional storage for your account, you can do so using the Add Additional Disk Space link.

Domain Pointer

Pointer domains are additional domains added to your account. They resolve (point) to the root directory of your account. An alias-based email service is available for pointer domains.

Domain Pointers tab

Lists active pointer domains associated with your account. To review or update whois contact information for a pointer domain that was registered through DiscountASP.NET, go to the Domain Manager page.

Order Domain Pointer tab

Use this tool to add a pointer domain to your account. This configures your account to use the pointer domain, but it is not a domain registration service. You must register the pointer domain through the registrar of your choice. You may register certain domains through us by submitting a ticket to our Billing Department.
