How to add a new email account

There are two ways to add email users: through the SmarterMail interface or the DiscountASP.NET Control Panel. Adding a user through the SmarterMail interface gives you more configuration options, but using the Control Panel is generally faster.

 

Add an email user through the Control Panel

  1. Log in to the DiscountASP.NET Control Panel.
  2. Click the "SmarterMail Manager" link on the left.
  3. In the Email Management screen, scroll down to the box labeled "QUICK VIEW/EDIT by EMAIL TYPE."
  4. Select "Email Users" from the dropdown.
  5. When the box expands below the "Email Users" section, click the "ADD USER" link.
  6. Enter the user information and click "Save."

 

Add an email user through the SmarterMail Interface

  1. Log in to the DiscountASP.NET Control Panel.
  2. Click the "SmarterMail Manager" link on the left.
  3. Click the "SmarterMail Management Login as Primary Admin" link. You will be logged in as the Primary Domain Administrator.
  4. Click the "Settings" link in the left navigation menu (the icon that looks like a gear).
  5. Click to expand the "Domain Settings" folder.
  6. Click "Users."
  7. Click "New."
  8. Enter the new user's information. Note the tabs at the top ("Webmail", "Compose", "Forwarding", etc.). You can configure advanced settings for the new user under those tabs if you wish.
  9. If you want the user to be able to download messages via POP3 or IMAP, and the options to "Enable POP retrieval" and "Enable IMAP retrieval" are visible, check those boxes. These options are not visible on all email accounts. If they are not visible that does not mean you cannot download messages with POP3 or IMAP.
  10. Click "Save."
