Web App Gallery - WordPress Setup

This article provides comprehensive instructions for configuring WordPress in our hosting environment. Before you begin, please read this article to see if your account meets the requirements for optimal WordPress operation.

You will need a MySQL database for WordPress. If you don't have a MySQL database yet, log in to Control Panel to set one up. Once the database has been provisioned, log back in to Control Panel and  go to the
MySQL Database Manager section and click the "Manage" link for the database. Make note of the MySQL server name, database name and user name (the default password will be your Control Panel password).

Setting up WordPress
  1. Go to the Web App Gallery in Control Panel, scroll down to WordPress and click the "Continue with Installation" link.
  2. When the Web App Gallery finishes uploading the WordPress files, click the link to pull up the site.
  3. Click the "Create a Configuration File" button.
  4. Click "Let's Go!"
  5. In the Database Name field enter the database name.
  6. In the User Name field enter the database username.
  7. The Password for your database is the same as your FTP password at the time the database was provisioned (you can reset your database password in Control Panel if you need to).
  8. The "Database Host" is the Database Server listed in Control Panel.
  9. For Table Prefix you can enter the table prefix you would like to use. A prefix is only necessary if you intend to run multiple installations of WordPress on the same database.
  10. Click the Submit button.
Configuring WordPress
  1. In the "Site Title" field, enter the name of your WordPress site.
