How to configure SQL Server Management Studio to connect to a SQL server

To connect to your SQL database using SQL Server Management Studio, follow the steps listed below. 
 
You can find your database information on the Database Manager page of Control Panel:
 
 Open SQL Server Management Studio, the "Connect to Server" window will open. Select/enter the following:
  • Server Type: Database Engine
  • Server Name: [The SQL server name]
  • Authentication: SQL Server Authentication
  • Login: [SQL Login name]
  • Password: [SQL Password]
Click "connect" and you will be connected to the SQL server.
 
Note:  You will need to download and install SQL Server Management Studio 2016 to connect to a SQL 2016 database.
